Boyden L Brown, Sr.

Obituary: Rockwell-Boyden L. Brown, Sr., 91, passed away Friday evening, November 4, 2016. Born April 28, 1925 in Rowan County, he was a son of the late John Boyden and Bessie Schenck Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Magdalene Honeycutt Brown, a brother, Michael Brown and a sister, Mae Schenck. Boyden had faithfully and honorably served his country with the 3rd Marine Division, during WWII. A lifelong member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Mr. Brown had been a truck driver for many years and was former owner of West Innes Street Texaco. He had most recently been employed as a bus driver for the City of Salisbury. Family members include his son, B.L. Brown, Jr. and wife, Dale, of Newberry, SC; his granddaughter, Marianna Ray and husband, Travis; brothers Kenneth and Charles Brown; sisters Barbara Kesler, Billie Kizziah and Frances Duffell; his great-grandsons Logan and Lawson Ray, and a special faithful cousin, Melvin Schenck and wife Gale. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 8th from 1:30 - 3:00 pm in the fellowship hall of Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Brown will begin at 3:00 pm in the church, conducted by Pastor Bob Young, minister. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military honors. For those who prefer, memorials may be made to Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 4914 Old Beatty Ford Rd., China Grove, NC 28023.
