Obituary: Brandon Akers, 25, of Wilmington passed away, Wednesday, April 9, 2019. Visitation will be held at 12:30 - 2:00 PM with the funeral service following directly after at 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 14th, 2019 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel. Brandon was born November 30, 1993 in Mecklenburg County. He resided with his Parents Robin and Phillip Funderburk Jr. in Wilmington NC. He enjoyed coming to visit his family in Kannapolis whenever he could. Brandon had a big heart, he was quick to make friends, and he loved spending time with his large loving family and friends especially his daughter Jailyn. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him. He was proceeded in death by his little brother Tristan Akers, his Grandmother Helen Akers, his Grandfathers David Wantland and Wayne Funderburk. Those left to cherish his memory are his parents Robin & Phillip Funderburk Jr, his Natural Father Dewey Eugene Akers, his Daughter Jailyn Scercy, his siblings Laci Akers (Josh) of Kannapolis, Kayla Gibson (Kirk) of Denver NC, Bryson Funderburk of Wilmington, Nicholas Deese of Mooresville, Brianna Funderburk (Bo) of Wilmington, Hunter Funderburk of Wilmington, Clayton Speight of Wilmington, Darren Akers, he is also survived by his grandparents Mark & Linda Hunsucker of Kannapolis and his grandfather Robert Eugene Akers of Bristol. Brandon's memory will also be cherished by his large extended family with all his Aunts Uncles and Many Many Cousins. Memorials may be made to, American Diabetes Association, 222 S.
