Brenda (Pitman) Mayo

Brenda Mayo, 73, of Kannapolis, passed away Thursday morning, October 26, 2023, at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

Brenda was born March 21, 1950, in Mullins, SC, a daughter of the late Evelyn Collins. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters.

She was the loving wife of Clarence Mayo for 53 years. They had both been restaurant owners in Kannapolis and owned and operated an oil and fragrance business at Webb Road Flea Market for 14 years. Brenda was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Although in a much better place today, she will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

Family members in addition to her husband include her daughter, Nickie Hodges (Dale), and her son, Chris Mayo (Amanda); her grandsons, Layne Mayo and Nathan Mayo; brother and friend, Mike Pitman; 6 siblings and many extended family members.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 30th from 1:00-2:00 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor Darren Yow.  Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, where Mrs. Mayo will be laid to rest.
