Obituary: Brenda Gail Smith Overcash, 71, of Kannapolis died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at CMC-Northeast Medical Center following a short illness. She was born July 20, 1941 in Alamance County, NC a daughter of the late Gus and Virginia Kiser Smith. Mrs. Overcash was employed by Cabarrus Memorial Hospital for many years as a technician in the ob/gyn. department. She was baptised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1973 and served Jehovah God faithfully for all these many years. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 811 Delane Street, Kannapolis. She had countless family members and close friends who adored her for being the most kind and generous person. She certainly loved all others and showed it by her actions. She was known for sending countless cards to friends and family members on special occasions just to let them know she held them in her heart. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Boyd Vanderburg. Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Marvin Overcash of the home, two sons, Brad Vanderburg of Shallotte and Brian Vanderburg of Salisbury. Two brothers, Algie Smith of High Rock Lake and Roger Smith of Kannapolis, two sisters, Linda Gibson and Phyllis Moore both of Kannapolis. Four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 811 Delane Street, Kannapolis conducted by Elder Bill Fulcher. The family will receive friends at the church from 3:00-4:00 prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, China Grove.
