Obituary: Mrs. Brenda Faye Troutman Smith, 70, of Concord went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 5, 2015 at her residence. She had been in declining health but death was unexpected. She was born March 20, 1944 in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late William Franklin and Clara Beatrice Severt Troutman. Brenda was a homemaker and a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church, Concord. She was known for her great cooking. She enjoyed going to the lake house with her family and loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Danny Benton. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday 1:00-2:00 P.M. At other times they will be at the residence. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Linda Kaye Troutman, sisters, Donna Murph and Frances "Sissy" Simpson and brothers Harry J. "Jack" Troutman and Guy Troutman. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Ed "Snuffy" Smith of the Home, one daughter, Darlene Honeycutt of Concord, and one son, Ricky Lee Honeycutt of Mt. Pleasant. She is also survived by brothers and sisters; Charles "Buddy" Troutman (Alice) of Kannapolis, Sue Barnhardt (Don) of Concord, Nancy Walter (Jim) and Tamera Benton (Danny) both of Concord and Terry Troutman (Gina) of Kannapolis. She is also survived by four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren including two great- grandchildren, Amir and Eden whom are of the home.
