Brenda Katherine (Reed) Wassum

Brenda Katherine Reed Wassum of Salisbury, NC, left this world suddenly on July 18, 2024 at age 68.

She was born on September 21, 1955 to the late Doris Jean Dolby and William Raymond Reed in New York State.

After graduating from Clarion Area High School in Clarion, PA, Brenda attended Jeff Tech Practical Nursing Program and worked as an LPN in the emergency room at Clarion Hospital for 20 years. She then graduated as a registered nurse from Clarion University and started working as a triage nurse at Salisbury Pediatric Associates in Salisbury, NC in 1999. Over the past nearly 25 years there, Brenda has developed very deep relationships with her providers, colleagues, parents, and patients.

Aside from her job, she loved to sew and do crafts. Most of all though, she absolutely adored her five grandchildren! Brenda would tell anyone willing to listen all about how much joy they brought to her life and how much she was looking forward to spending time with them.

Brenda is survived by her husband Roger Wassum, whom she married September 8, 1979; daughter, Mindy Dawn Wallace and husband Aaron of Roanoke, VA; son, Bradley Dean Wassum and wife Lana of Gold Hill, NC; granddaughters, Taylor Wassum, Genevieve “Eva” Wallace, and Scarlett Wassum; grandsons, Isaac Wallace and Austin Wassum; brother, Ronald Reed of New Castle, CO; sister Karen Girt and husband Kirb of Strattanville, PA and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Doucette.

Per Brenda’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. One may make a contribution to Breast Cancer Research Foundation in her memory.
