Brenda Kaye Hunter, 69, of Kannapolis went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Tucker Hospice House following a period of declining health. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, John Hunter, Sr.
Kaye was born April 10, 1952 in Chesterfield County, SC, a daughter of the late Dewey Teal Brooks and Rebecca Gladys Lisenby Brooks.
Kaye was a 1970 graduate of A. L. Brown High School and attended Rowan Cabarrus Community College where she received her Associate’s Degree. Following graduation, she was employed at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, Rowan Regional Medical Center and prior to her retirement she was employed at Hospice and Palliative Care of Rowan County.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, helped with the Youth Camp, and was a member of the Women’s Bible Studies.
Kaye enjoyed life, she was the life of the party, enjoying shopping and spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Family members left to cherish Kaye’s memory include four sons; John Hunter, Jr. and wife Kay of China Grove, Steve Hunter (late Penny Hunter), Rev. Dean Hunter and wife Laura Jane of Landis, and Dewey Hunter and Miranda of China Grove, step daughter, Michelle Hunter Stringer.
She is also survived by a sister, Dianne Shoe of China Grove along with 10 grandchildren; Kyndall, Brooks, Henry, Adah Jane, Amber, Holly, Jordan and Cierra, Jared Wagoner and Zach Tucker. Five great grandchildren also survive along with a niece, Lee-Anne Davies.
Funeral services to celebrate Kaye’s life will be held at 6:00 P.M. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Central Baptist Church conducted by her son, Rev. Dean Hunter and Rev. Curtis Parker. The family will receive friends at the church from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence of a son, Rev. Dean Hunter.
