Obituary: Buddy Nelson Rabon, 70, of Salisbury went to be with his Heavenly father Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Glenn Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC after a period of declining health. Services will be held at 12:15 on Saturday, July 6 at West A Church of God in Kannapolis with Rev. Barbara Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at West A Church of God from 11:00 to 12:00 PM on Saturday, at other times they will be at the family home. Buddy Rabon was born November 28, 1942 in Rowan Co., a son of the late Carl G. Rabon and Zula Mae Miller. He was a life-long area resident and member of West A Church of God. Buddy was a self-employed flooring contractor with New York Carpet World and then Lowes Home Improvement, retiring in 2011. He continued to work as a sub-contractor for 3-4 days a week until his health began to decline. He was an avid NASCAR and Duke basketball fan. Buddy was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be remembered for his gift of laughter and helping people feel at ease. Buddy will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, Buddy was also preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Doris Fisher Rabon of the home, his son, Jason Rabon (Shanon) of China Grove, daughters, Kim Hollifield Seitzer (Mickey) of Rockwell and Chrystal Carpenter Cretin (David) of Salisbury and Lorie Carpenter Goodman (Johnny) of Kannapolis; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and brothers Bill Rabon (Mary Lou) and Harold Rabon (Gayle), both of Salisbury; and sister Frances Rabon Pethel (Charles) of Kannapolis.
