Obituary: Calvin Pearce Cerda, 71, of Matthews, formerly of Concord, passed away on June 10, 2016 at CMC-Main. He was born December 5, 1944 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Arthur Lionel Cerda and Marion Irene Pearce Cerda. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Cerda. Calvin was a disabled veteran of the US Army serving in the Vietnam War. He had a career in retail management before retiring. He was an avid target shooter and loved to collect eagles. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Keith Flack. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Salisbury with military honors at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Whitley's. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie "Margie" Cerda, three children, Gunnar Cerda (Beth), Joseph Cerda (Heidi), Ruth Cerda, grandchildren, Benjamin, Rachael, Vivian, Caitlin and two sisters, Martha Cerda and Jane Windelborn (Augden).
