Camden William Cohick

Camden William Cohick, 20, of Salisbury, North Carolina, passed away Friday morning, March 19, 2021, at Western Carolina University.

Born November 6, 2000, in Concord, North Carolina, Camden was the son of Keith and Robin Cook Cohick of Salisbury, North Carolina. He is also survived by is his loving sister, MacKenzie Cohick. Camden was preceded in death by his grandfather Bobby Cook and great-grandparents Leon and Mary Jane Pisle. Survivors include his grandparents Frances (Shorty) Cook of China Grove, Harold Cohick, Chambersburg, PA, Barb Cohick, and Bobby Van Scyoc of Shippensburg, PA. Also left behind are his Aunt, Tammy Cook, Uncle, Tim Cook, Uncle, Kevin Cohick (Rupa) and many loved cousins. Also left behind are much loved friends Logan King, Mitch Mullin, Will Brodauf, all his brothers at OMA Fraternity as well as all of his extended WCU family and his first family of Music, South Rowan Raider Regiment.

He graduated from South Rowan High School in the top five percent of his class and is a lifetime member of the National Honor Society. He was the first music student from South Rowan to be selected to attend the Governor's School of North Carolina program for gifted and talented high school students. Camden also served as Drum Major during his junior and senior years under the direction of his mentor JéVone Primus. His devotion and love of music led him to Western Carolina University to continue his studies, where he was currently in his Sophomore year. He was a rising trombonist and a devoted member of  Phi Nu Alpha-Omicron Epsilon (OMA) chapter. Camden was honored to be named on the Dean’s List and Chancellor’s List his time at WCU.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Enochville Church of God. Memorial service to remember and celebrate Camden's life will begin at 3:00 pm conducted by Billy Honeycutt. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery in China Grove immediately following the service.

Scholarships to be awarded to a South Rowan HS graduate for pursuing a Major in Music at the school of their choice and/or a current Western Carolina School of Music student.
