Obituary: Davidson, NC- Carl Hardin, age 87, died Thursday, February 22, 2010 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC He was born April 17, 1922 in Rutherford County, NC, the son of the late Ernest P. Hardin and Esmer Alice Hardin. He was a retired employee as a finish carpenter with various construction companies including R.S. Hicks Construction. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kannapolis, NC. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. In the U.S. Army he served as a Master Sergeant and received the Purple Heart, 2 Bronze Stars, & the Victory Medal. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Al Riquelme and Rev. Karl Aschmann . A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2010 at National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC with military rites by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Everett Hardin; two daughters, Jackie Ingram of Charlotte, NC and Angie Williams of Cashiers, NC; one step-daughter, Marilene Stirewalt & husband, Moses of Concord, NC Brothers, Donald Hardin of China Grove, NC, Rev. Charles Hardin of Kannapolis, NC, Gaines Hardin of Denver, NC; Sisters, Sue Hardin and Evelyn (Skippy) Pennington, both of Charlotte, NC, Delores Kiser of Kannapolis, NC, and Faye Hardin of Orlando, FL; Grandchildren, Todd Ingram of Charlotte, NC; Karen Kelley of Cleveland, TN, Rodney Kelley Eagleville,TN, & Sabrina Eagle & husband, Duane of Salisbury, NC; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild . Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 108 St. Joseph Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083. On-line condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com.
Visitation: 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27th at Whitley's Funeral Home

Service: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 2009 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church

Interment: 10 a.m. Monday, March 1st. at National Cemetery in Salisbury
