Carl J. Mann, Sr.

Obituary: Carl J. Mann, age 78, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Big Elm Nursing Center, Kannapolis, NC. He was born April 23, 1935 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of Dora Canup Mann of Kannapolis and the late Homer Alexander Mann. In addition to his father he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Carpenter Mann; son, Edward C. Mann and a brother, Robert L. Mann. Carl was employed with the former Fieldcrest Cannon in the security department. He was the owner of Mann Security operating at Verbatim Corp. He was a CB preacher known as, "Long Legs." The funeral service will be held at 1PM, Wednesday, Sep. 4, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Joey Spry. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7-9:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times will be at the home of a son, Chris Mann at 12720 Cross Dale Dr., Huntersville, NC. In addition to his mother, survivors include his three sons, Chris Mann of Huntersville, NC; Carl Mann of East Berlin PA; and Mark Mann of Kannapolis, NC; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
