Obituary: Carl Ray Trexler, 85, of China Grove went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 4, 2016 from his home after a brief period of declining health. His funeral will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, March 7 at God's Church of Faith in Kannapolis with Rev. Jeff Upright officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM prior to the funeral. Carl was born September 7, 1930 in Rowan Co., a son of the late Harvey E. and Lela Holshouser Trexler. He was a life-long area resident and a veteran of the US Army. Carl left school in the 4th grade to go to work to help support his family. During his adult life Carl worked many years for Cannon Mils Co as an Oiler in the Spinning Room as well as other positions. He loved to work in his yard and garden and enjoyed raising Boston Terriers. Carl was a loving father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Nita Joan Petrea Trexler, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. His survivors include his daughter, Star Newsome, his son, Tony R. Trexler and his granddaughter, Amanda Newsome, all of China Grove and a grandson, Eric Newsome of Tampa FL. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, E.J., Brandon and Andriana Newsome and Kinsley Griffin and his sister, Inez Furr of Kannapolis as well as numerous nieces and nephews including his special nephew, Luther Trexler, who showed Carl much love and support through the years.
