Carlen Hardy

Obituary: Carlen Hardy, 89, of Kannapolis died January 18, 2011 at CMC-NorthEast. He was born May 20, 1921 in Putnam County, Tenn., the son of the late Ruben John Hardy and Bertie Lane Hardy. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith Canupp Hardy in 1994. He had lived in Columbia, SC before moving here about 25 years ago. He had previously worked at Carolina Electronics. He was a very active member of the Masons and the Shriners when he lived in Columbia. He was a member of the West Point Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Blair Bridle. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior at Whitley's. He is survived by two sisters, Margaret Carpenter of Powder Springs, Ga. and Floice Rushton of Douglasville, Ga. and many nieces and nephews.
