Obituary: Carlos Joe Moore, 73, passed away into eternal life with God and Jesus Christ on November 10, 2016. He died surrounded by family and friends. He fought a 2 year battle with cancer and his health rapidly declined over the last week. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, November 13, 2016 At Trinity United Methodist Church, 416 East First St., Kannapolis NC with Rev. Kirk Tutterrow, Pastor Joey Morrison, and Pastor Jasen Kirkman officiating. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 5-8pm at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel in Kannapolis. Carlos was born on October 24, 1943 in Concord to the late Virginia Gaston Moore and Jack Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce West Moore who died September 22, 2012. He and Joyce were married for 46 years. He graduated from A.L. Brown High School in 1962, attended Wingate University and served his country as a Sergeant in the National Guard. He was the owner of Carlos Moore Architect PA for 29 years and was a Paul Harris Fellow in the Rotary Club. Carlos is survived by his daughter, Virginia (Ginger) Lynne Moore of Concord and a son, Gregory Daniel Moore of Salisbury. He is survived by his brothers, Zackie Moore (Lindsey Gantt) and Marc Moore of Kannapolis; sisters Susan M. Compton (Dennis Compton), Jann M. Kirkman (Johnney Kirkman) all of Kannapolis and numerous nieces and nephews. Carlos began his career in architecture at Cannon Mills Engineering and Drafting department in 1966. From there he apprenticed and worked in many firms - Whittington Associates, Odell Associates, and Little, before becoming Chief Staff Architect for Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. In 1987 he established a local Architecture firm to serve our community. He believed that we should try to help anyone that needed help whether that be with a small or large project. Ginger hopes to carry on his legacy at the firm and continue to serve the community in the best way to honor his memory. He traveled all over (planes, trains, automobiles and then the motorcycles) the United States and Europe with his wife, friends and sometimes with students from Northwest Cabarrus and Concord High School. It was always an entertaining trip when he chaperoned. Later in life he obtained a new nickname "Mercury Moore" when he began his Legend's Car Career. He enjoyed racing - whether that be working on the car, driving the car or designing race shops of premier NASCAR teams. He raced the # 9 car for fun in the Master's Series at Concord and Charlotte and loved cooking for the kids in the go carts and bandolero's at the track. (It was God's handiwork for him to finish this earthy race and wave the checkered flag in room # 9 at the Tucker Hospice House.) Carlos also had a love for animals and; like his wife Joyce he had a 4 legged nurse named Diamond who along with Blondie, Patches and Ralph helped him thru grief, joy, and illness. They provided great comfort, companionship and healing; and were spoiled rotten. He was kind, helpful, social, and did not miss an opportunity to talk or have fun. He will be dearly missed at home, at the office and in the community. The family would like to thank his doctors, medical team, nurses, the many friends and his friend Helen Stirewalt Correll for their help, concern, and support during the fight with cancer.
