Obituary: One of the most beautiful souls that God ever created went to join him today. Carlton Richard Doby, Jr., 36 of Salisbury passed away on August 4, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem after complications from a bone marrow transplant. Services will be held at 1:00PM on Friday August 7, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Sherrill officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury. The family will receive friends from 11:00AM until 1:00PM at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence. He was born August 29, 1972 in Columbia, South Carolina to Carlton R. Doby, Sr. and Judith Lee Bolding Doby of Salisbury. Carl graduated from Concord HS in 1991 and received his Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from UNCC in 1996. He worked for the Planning and Zoning Dept. of Rowan Co. for 8 yrs and as an Erosion Control Inspector for Cabarrus Co. for 2 yrs. Carl was a member of the National Hot Rod Association and the Hornet's Nest Auto Club Carl leaves behind his wife of 11 yrs, Deona Burchette Doby, his 3 beautiful children Grant(10), Harrison (8) and Ella (4). He also leaves behind his mother and father Judy and Rick Doby and paternal grandfather Dolan R. Doby all of Salisbury. Mother-in-law and Father-in-law Barbara and Fred Burchette of Salisbury, Sister-in-law Amanda Rhinier (David) and Niece Kallie Rhinier of Faith and so many other family and friends that loved him. He was preceded in death by a brother Keith Doby. Carl made an everlasting impression on all who knew him. Carl loved to spend time with his children. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cars and people. Carl never met a stranger. He embraced life and lived every day to the fullest. Carl Doby was heaven on earth and he will be missed immensely. We love you Carl!!!
