Obituary: Carlton (Carl) R. King, 63 of Kannapolis, NC., and formerly or Williamson, NY., died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. Carl was born on March 30, 1948 in Monroe County, NY, a son of the late Robert A. and Ruth Horton King.He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war and was employed by Wellers's Motors in Rochester as a bookkeeper until June of 2000 when he moved to Kannapolis, NC and worked for Monroe Roadways until his retirement.Graveside services with military honors will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Hammondsport, NY. The family will receive friends at the V.F.W in Bath, NY, following the graveside services. Lamarche Funeral Home is assisting the family. On Monday, October 10, 2011 the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis, NC.Carl is survived by his wife Barbara J. Deisering King of Kannapolis, NC., a son Daniel R. King and wife Ronaele of Marion, NY, a daughter, Tammy L. Miller an husband John of Rochester, NY, 2 step-sons, Matthew J. Vega and wife Candi and Eric J. Thomas both of Neward, NY, a sister, Kareen Porterfield of St. Petersburg, FL, 2 brothers, Gary A. King of Elmira, NY, and Ted D. King and wife Robin of Bath, NY, his mother-in-law, Betty Deisering of Kannapolis, NC, 2 grandchildren, Nathaniel D. King and Wyitt Vega, and several nieces and nephews.Carls family would like to express a special thanks to Hospice of Rowan County, NC. and suggest memorials be made to a hospice of your choice.
Visitation: 6-8 PM Monday, Oct. 10th at Whitleys Funeral Home.

Service: Graveside services with military honors will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammond Sport, NY.

Interment: At Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Hammondsport, NY.
