Obituary: Carlton W. Walls, 82, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Transitional Health Care Services. Carlton was born December 12, 1936 in Irwin County, Ga. a son of the late Corbin Lee and Florence Maybelle Spradlin Walls. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Lambert Walls in 1998. Carlton was a faithful member of West A Church of God, attending as long as his health permitted. He was a veteran of the US Army. He retired from Cannon Mills, Plant 1, #6 Weave Room with 42 years of service. He enjoyed working on anything mechanical, and going rabbit and deer hunting. Family members left to cherish his memory are one son, Ray Walls and wife Donna of Kannapolis, and three daughters, Janice Hardin and husband Tim of Concord, Anita Haynes and husband Tod of Concord and Benita White and husband David of Charlotte. He is also survived by three sisters; Patricia Smith and Pat Pettigrew both of Charleston and Gladys Pettigrew of Columbia, SC. Seven grandchildren survive; Kristin, Macy, Michael, Cara, Alexander, Gracie, and Conner along with one great grandchild Milli with another great granddaughter expected shortly. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 6, 2019 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Greg Sloop. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park with military graveside rites.
