Obituary: Carol Mullis Barbee, 78, went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Tucker Hospice House. Mrs. Barbee was born March 2, 1936 in Cabarrus County to the late William Mullis and Edith Black Taylor. Carol worked many years as a nurse in the hospitals and she taught nursing at the Louise Harkey School of Nursing. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church; Carol loved to hunt rocks, sea shells, loved the beach, read, and sing in the choir at Parkwood. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Charles Barbee of the home; two daughters, Rachel Gregory (Dwight) of Concord and Becky Harris (Gerald) of Concord; five grandchildren, Brooke Flemings, Zachary Harris, Dawn Aistrop, Jason Aistrop, and Michael Gregory; three great grandchildren; and a sister, Linda Jett of Washington, DC. A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Parkwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Waters and Rev. Darrell Coble officiating. Burial will follow at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014 at Parkwood Baptist Church.
