Carol Elaine Lumsden

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Carol Hampton Lumsden, age 68, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 2, 2010 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC. She was born March 12, 1942 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of Velma Stirewalt Hampton of Kannapolis, NC and the late Carl Wesley Hampton. She was employed with the former Fieldcrest-Cannon, Inc. for many years until her retirement due to disability. She held her church membership at Landis Baptist Church, Landis, NC where she was active in the Ida Hinson Circle. She was thought of by her family as a special loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend to many who liked to write cards as part of her ministry to others. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Lumsden, who died in 2007; a son, David Beaver in 1986; and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Gail Beaver in 2008. The funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Landis Baptist Church, Landis, NC officiated by Rev. Billy Honeycutt. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Thursday at the church prior to the service. Survivors in additon to her mother include, one son, Dennis Beaver of Landis, NC; one brother, Jimmy Hampton of Concord, NC; two stepdaughters, Asonya Lumsden and Sandra Lumsden, both of Kannapolis, NC; two granddaughters, Amber Hoke of Monroe, NC and Malori Renee Harrington of Salisbury, NC; and her special Chihuahua companion, Cappi.
