Caroleen Lawing Phillips

Obituary: Concord - Caroleen Lawing Phillips, age 77, of 12127 Old Concord Rd. Rockwell, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at CMC-NE. Her death was unexpected. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 8 at West Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Jimmie Barnhill officiating. Family will receive friends after the service at the graveside. Caroleen was born June 15, 1931 in Kannapolis, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest and Bertha Queen Lawing. She was life long area resident, educated in Kannapolis City schools and attended Cannon H. S. She was a member of Jackson Park Pentecostal Holiness Church. Caroleen was a homemaker to her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Buck and Garland Lawing, and her sister, Thelma Smith. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Omar L. Phillips of the family home; her son, Terry Phillips and wife, Debbie and Connie Freeze and husband, Gary, all of China Grove. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
