Carolyn Alverta Barber

Obituary: Carolyn Alverta Barber, 74, of Kannapolis passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Five Oaks Manor. She was born May 29, 1940 in Lenoir, the daughter of the late Thomas and Ruby Boughman Perry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Barber, infant son, Jeffrey Barber, her brother, Derold Perry and her sister, Joyce Peele. She was the valedictorian of her high school class and a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College in 1959. She retired from Cannon Mills after 40 years. She was a member of Solid Rock Worship Center. She was a caring and giving person. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Solid Rock Worship Center officiated by Rev. Raymond Davis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior at church from 12:30 to 2:00 PM. She is survived by her two sons, Tim Barber and wife Lynn of Kannapolis, David Barber of Kannapolis, grandson, John Barber of Harrisburg, step-granddaughter, Melissa Maynard of Clayton, three step grandchildren, Logan, Emma and Kayla, sister, Judy Beaver and husband, Wayne of Lenoir and brother Robert (Bob) Perry of Hickory.
