Carolyn Sherrill Childress

Obituary: Carolyn Sherrill Childress, age 81, died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis, NC. She was born October 26, 1928 in Rowan County, NC, the daughter of the late Rufus Johnson Sherrill and Jessie Baity Sherrill. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of the area. She held her church membership at North Kannapolis United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC where she was active with the Virginia Dayvault Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne M. Childress who died November 25, 1998. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Tommy Conder. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Survivors include two sons, Donald W. Childress & wife, Sharon of Kannapolis, NC and Paul R. Childress of China Grove, NC; two daughters, Linda Childress of Kannapolis, NC and Cathy Tadlock & husband, Brad of Huntersville, NC; Four grandchildren, Lisa Meadows & husband, Stewart of China Grove, NC, Jenifer Glover & husband, Chrisopher of Kannapolis, NC, Austin Tadlock and Bailey Tadlock, both of Huntersville, NC; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Meadows and Aubrey Glover One brother, Tony W. Sherrill of Faith, NC; two sisters, Ruby Flynn of California and Mildred Taylor of Virginia Beach, VA; and a former daughter-in-law, Kate Childress of Kannapolis, NC.
