Carolyn Anita Helms Miller Key

Obituary: Carolyn Anita Helms Miller Key, 72, of Kannapolis, NC went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 11, 2014 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born April 28, 1942 in Cabarrus County, NC daughter of the late William Kemp Helms and Mildred Viola Kanipe Helms. Mrs. Key was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior Citizens Group. She was employed in the #1 Weave Room, Plt. #1 at Cannon Mills for thirty nine years until she had to resign to care for her ill mother. She enjoyed working in her yard, going to the beach and was an avid Kyle Busch fan. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Rick Adams. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 P.M. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Rayvon Miller and her second husband, Bobby Ray Key, Sr. Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Kimberly Ann Miller Golden and a granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Miller and brother, Wayne Loraine Helms. Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Lynn Miller Harris of the home, son; William Randall (Randy) Miller (Julie) of Salisbury, two step sons, Bobby Ray Key Jr. and Michael Key both of Kannapolis, sister, Joyce Marie Helms Lazenby of the Home, 14 grandchildren and 10 Great grandchildren. The family requests that in Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, 2316 Randolph Road, Charlotte, NC 28027.
