Obituary: Salisbury, NC Carolyn Hicks Leslie, 87, of Salisbury, formerly of Kannapolis died April 9, 2018 at Trinity Oaks Nursing Home after a long period of decline due to Alzheimer's. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 13 at Trinity Oaks, in the Chapel with Chaplain, Rev. Brenda Bynum officiating. Carolyn's family will receive friends after the service. Carolyn was born September 10, 1930, in Gaffney SC, a daughter of the late J. Y. and Etta Fray Hicks. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Jean Williams. Carolyn was a graduate of Winthrop University with a degree in Home Economics and a longtime resident of Kannapolis and member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was active in her church, the PTA and in the Heart Fund. In early years she worked as a dietician for the Kannapolis YMCA, Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, Centerview Elementary and Cannon Junior High School. Later she taught nutrition to the student nurses at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital. Carolyn was also a loving and devoted homemaker for her husband and sons. She will be dearly missed. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Charles "Chuck" A. Leslie of the home, her sons; Charles A. Leslie, Jr. (Dee) of Raleigh, Robert W. Leslie (Gina) of Concord; her grandchildren include Caroline, Kathryn, Chase, Andrew and Nathan Leslie. She is also survived by her sister, Merle Holmes of Conway, SC, her niece, Juan Holmes and her nephews, Brett and Brooks Williams.
