Obituary: Carolyn Earwood Sexton, age 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 19, 2017, when she was freed from her earthly body and the grip of diabetes and cancer. Her faith in God and the resurrection, along with her family, sustained her during the last days and weeks before her release. She was born August 27, 1943 to the late Ira and Geneva Earwood. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael James Sexton, her parents, and a brother, Barry Earwood. Those left to celebrate her life and legacy are her husband Jim, her daughter, Ginger, and her husband, Matt Zaremski; son, Jonathan and wife, Julie; and grandchildren, Lillian and Elizabeth Sexton. One of seven children, she is also survived by sisters, Iris Earwood, Tamara Pridgen and husband, Frank; Sarah Gregg and husband, Bill; Marvie McDonald; and brother, Brent Earwood and wife, Sherri. The family will gather at 118 Trade Avenue, Kannapolis, NC, the home she and Jim shared for fifty-six years. She graduate in 1961 from A.L. Brown High School and joyfully attended the activities, reunions, and mini-reunions with that class along with the email connections they all shared. She was employed by Owens -Corning Fiberglass in the National Accounts Division for twenty years and the Supply Division for twelve years. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC where she and Jim were married on March 26, 1961. Active in all parts of church activities over the years, she particularly loved the young girls' G.A. 1st and 2nd grade groups, the fellowship of her Sunday school class, and the Keenagers senior citizens group. Per her request, the family will receive friends in the sanctuary of the church an hour before the service at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 22, 2017. Receiving will begin from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC.
