Obituary: Carolyn Louise Herrin Tucker, 86, of Kannapolis went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Transitional Health Care following a period of declining health. She was born January 7, 1931 in Mecklenburg County, NC a daughter of the late William Artie Herrin and Mavis Corbella Blackwelder Herrin. She was also preceded in death by her husband Joseph Dudley "J.D." Tucker, Jr. on October 2, 2009 and a son, Alan Tucker. Mrs. Tucker was a member of Liberty Baptist Church of Kannapolis and was retired from Bell South where she worked in the sales and collections department. Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Tucker Clinard and husband David of Concord, Jeannie Tucker Gibson and husband James of Concord, one son, Wayne Tucker and special friend Tracy Hamilton of Kannapolis, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a very special and faithful friend of Carolyn's for many years, Mr. Bill Rogers. The family would like to express their appreciation to grandson Jeremy, great grandsons Jeremy Jr., Garrett and Derrick Tucker for their special love and concern shown to their grandmother and great grandmother. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 6, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Bennie Burgess. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M. Monday prior to the service. "The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Transitional Health Care for their love, concern, and going above and beyond the call of duty shown to Mrs. Tucker and her family while she was in their care."
