Obituary: Absher, Carry Belle Kannapolis, NC- Carry Belle Absher, age 93, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Gordon Hospice House, Statesville, NC after many years of declining health. She was born May 30, 1918 in Wilkes County, NC, the daughter of the late Jessie Roberts and Mattie Church Roberts. Carry was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant # 1 Winding Room for 22 years until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of the Baptist faith. Carry is remembered as being a good mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother who especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also made quilts for her family, loved sewing, and spending time gardening flowers throughout the years. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Absher, who died in 1993; and a daughter, Thelma Carraway; and two sons, Richard Absher and Paul Absher. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Weldon J. Key. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC prior to the service. Survivors include her sons, Wade Absher of Kannapolis, NC, Bill Absher of N. Wilkesboro, NC, Ralph Absher of Harmony, NC, and Roy Absher of Laurel Springs, NC; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
