Catherine Charlene Messer

Obituary: Catherine Charlene Messer, 81, of Concord, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 3, 2014 at Tucker Hospice House following a period of declining health. She was born November 28, 1932 in Queens County, NY, a daughter of the late John and Catherine O'Donnall Moran. Catherine worked as an administrative assistant at Vaughn Academy of Aeronautics for many years. She loved to travel, take cruises, loved her family dearly and touched many people's lives with her love. She is survived by her 18 year old feline companion, Joker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Henry Messer who died June 2, 2014. She is survived by one son, Carl J. Messer (Mary) of Queens, NY, one daughter, Vicky Nicastro (Tom) of Concord, and three grandchildren, Amanda, Brenna and David. Visitation for Mrs. Messer will be 2:00-4:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Father James H. Geiger, C.Ss.R. will officiate at a prayer service at 3:30 P.M. The family requests that in Lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to the Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus County, 2010 Wilshire Ct.
