Obituary: Kannapolis, NC Catherine Lee Wensil Plyler, age 80, of Kannapolis died Thursday, August 18, 2016 at her home after a period of declining health. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, August 27 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steven DeGangi officiating. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home after the memorial service. Private burial will follow at a later date. Catherine was born July 13, 1936 in Rowan Co., a daughter of the late Clarence T. and Rebecca Louise Whitley Wensil. She was a lifelong area resident and former member of Lane Street Baptist Church. Catherine worked for Cannon Mills as doffer and a spinner, retiring after 37 years of service. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Catherine will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Dan L. Plyler, her great-grandson, Christopher "C.J." Overcash, her brothers; Eugene and Sam Wensil, her sisters; Peggy, Patsy and Eva Mae Wensil, Betty J. Long and Faye Deal. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kathy Gainey (Tim) of Kannapolis, her son, Michael Plyler of Hungary, her dtr-in-law, Barbara Plyler of TN, her grandchildren; Chris Plyler of TN, Joshua Plyler of CA, Audrey Plyler of IL, Caleb Plyler of TN, Christopher and Candace Drake, both of Kannapolis. She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren and her brothers; Hoye Wensil (Kay) and Tommy Wensil (Shirley) and her sisters; Martha Kimery and Lorine Warren and many nieces and nephews.
