Catherine Rodgers Wentz

Obituary: Catherine Irene Rodgers Wentz, 87, of Kannapolis, passed away with Peace and Grace on February 28, 2018 at her residence at Concord Place, following a period of declining health. Mrs. Wentz was born May 16, 1930 in Cabarrus County to the late Georgia "Ethel" Canup Rodgers and Walter Calvin Rodgers. She will be reunited in Heaven with her loving husband Joe Phillip Wentz and son Joe Phillip Wentz, Jr. Mrs. Wentz was preceded in death by sisters Marie Scarbourough, Lucille Moss, Doris Purser and brothers, Harold "Lawson" Rodgers and Calvin Rodgers. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kathy Wentz Hartsell and husband Allen of Midland; and grandchildren, Melissa Hartsell Burris and husband Seth of New London, Lindsey Hartsell Cragan and husband Clayton of Concord. She leaves behind her great-grandson Brice Edward Burris and great granddaughter Addison Grace Cragan and other extended family, numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved her. Mrs. Wentz was a devoted homemaker and loving mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, sew and do gardening and spending time with her family. She was a lifelong area resident and a member Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Thomas Christensen. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. Saturday until the time of the service.
