Obituary: Cathryn Fowler Cromer, 90, passed away Sunday morning, October 1, 2017 at her residence, surrounded by her family. Born March 6, 1927 in Franklin County, GA, Cathryn was a daughter of the late Mack and Mayola Haley Fowler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Clarence Cromer; a son Joseph "Buddy" Cromer; 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Mrs. Cromer retired in 1989, after 30 years of service, from the wash cloth department of Cannon Mills. Following the death of her husband, Cathryn was able to visit every state in the continental US with her special friend and traveling buddy, Ruth Knowles. Mrs. Cromer will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Loving family members include her daughters Tina Sellers (Ronnie), Connie Miles (Gene) and Camilla Collins; daughter-in-law Kim Cromer; her sisters Ruby Brown and Joyce Floyd, both of Royston, GA; grandchildren Rhonda Upright (Todd), Michael and Kevin Steele, Chris Cromer (Amanda), Brittany Wise (Jason), Deanna Helms (Brandon), Dale and Ashley Collins and Alyssa Ward (Zach); her great-grandchildren Tyler Powers, Macayla, Trey and McKenzie Upright, Kara and Remington Steele, Colton Helms, Landon, Grayson, Karrigan and Kinley Cromer, Jackson and Jayleigh Wise, Hallie Ward and a great-grandson on the way. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 5th from 12:30-2:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate Mrs.Cromer's life will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor Justin Thompson. Mrs. Cromer will be laid to rest with her husband at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery.
