Cathy Kiser

Obituary: Cathy Farabee Kiser, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC. She was born August 14, 1941 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Charles Raymond Farabee and Frances Davis Farabee. Cathy was a 1959 graduate of A.L. Brown High School and a 1962 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College. Cathy was employed for thirty years with the Kannapolis City Schools as an elementary school teacher assign to various grades over the years. Especially, at the former Aycock Elementary School where she loved to see children grow, learn, and think. Throughout the years she was also active with the NCAE in various offices over the years. She was also an active member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC where she served as the first female chairman of the church council, active with the WELCA, and volunteered in various church activities. In addition to those interests, she was also a volunteer at CMC-NorthEast. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, and spending time with friends. She was active in three card clubs including the Tuesday Night Club, the Hand In Foot Club, and the Concord Bridge Club. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, April 8, 2016 at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Liz Fisher, Associate in Ministry. Burial will be at a later date. According to Cathy's instructions, there will be an ice cream social in the common area of Kimball church after the memorial service. Survivors include her children, Steven Flay Kiser (Jennifer) of Pineville, NC; Jeffrey Ray Kiser (Jack) of Pittsburgh, PA; David Clayton Kiser (Carissa) of Concord, NC; and Kristie Kiser Purvis (Eric) of Kannapolis, NC; one brother, Charles Raymond Farabee (Ann) of Kannapolis, NC; one sister, Kelly Keller (Lyn) of Jamestown, NC; five grandchildren, Lauren Kiser, Carson Purvis, Sydney Purvis, Katie Purvis, and Emma Kiser. Memorials may be made to Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, c/o Building Fund, 101 Vance Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
