Cecil George Keller

Obituary: Cecil George Keller, age 74, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at his home after one and half years of declining health. He was born May 12, 1937 in Rowan County, NC, the son of the late Albert G. Keller and Helen Beatrice Plyler Keller. In earlier years Cecil worked for the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant #1 Tin Shop. Later, he was employed with the former Gamewell Mechanical which became York International, Salisbury, NC where he worked for 29 years until his retirement in 1997. Cecil was a lifelong active member of North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church, Kannapolis, NC. He served as a board member, trustee, project coordinator of the youth parsonage, and faithfully maintained the church facilities for years. He was also volunteers coordinator and worked countless hours constructing cabins for children's camp and remodeling of the Heritage House at the South Mountain Retreat and Conference Center for the Wesleyan Church in Casar, NC. He was a faithful attender, supporter, and project leader at Camp Wesley in Kannapolis, NC. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He is fondly remembered for loving his family and taking them on numerous family vacations. He enjoyed camping and had a strong interest in photography. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Michelle Keller. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 15, 2012 at North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Steve Beam and Rev. Steven Cline. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty Garmon Keller; one son, Jeff Keller & wife, Ann of Landis, NC; one daughter, Lori K. Morrison & husband, Bo of Salisbury, NC; three grandsons, Justin Morrison, Jacob Morrison, and Gregory Keller; two brothers, Bill Keller of Maggie Valley, NC and Jimmy Keller of Kannapolis, NC. Memorials may be made to World Gospel Missions, P.O. Box 948, Marion, Indiana 46952-0948 or Camp Wesley, P.O. Box 1116, Kannapolis, NC 28082.
Visitation: 6-8:00 p.m., Sat. April 14 at Whitly's Funeral Home.

Service: 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 15th at North Kannapolis Wesleyan Ch.

Interment: Carolina Mem. Park.
