Charles Ray Carpenter

Charles “Chick” Ray Carpenter, 57, of Concord went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at home surrounded by family and friends at the time of his death.

Chick was born October 10, 1964 in Cabarrus County, NC a son of the late Fred Douglas Carpenter, Sr. and the late Margaret Louise Furr Carpenter. Also preceding him in death was a son, Larry Carpenter.

Chick was a carpenter by trade and was a member of Zion Freewill Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 22,2022 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Sarah Jean Tucker. Interment will follow in Zion Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:30 P.M.-4:00 P.M. prior to the service.

Chick enjoyed life to the fullest, loved spending time with his friends and family and also loved the beach. He had a very open and loving heart. He helped so many and never expected anything in return. He loved his two dogs.

Chick is survived by two sons, James Carpenter and wife Stephanie of Concord and Nolan Carpenter of West Virginia, four brothers; Fred D. Carpenter, Jr. of Concord, Bill Carpenter and wife Pam of Kannapolis, Marvin Carpenter and wife Darlene of Kannapolis and Billy Carpenter and wife Terri of Salisbury. He is also survived by four sisters; Jeanette Tidwell and husband Brent of Kannapolis, Gail McClamrock and husband Daniel, Sr. of Kannapolis and Lisa Honeycutt and husband Adam of Kannapolis and Nita Benton and husband Andy of Kannapolis, one granddaughter, Rylee Campbell, Mama Sis of Concord and two fur babies, Little Bit and Sadie.

Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to Whitley’s Funeral Home to be applied to funeral expenses.
