Charles "Jackie" Smith, 82, of Mooresville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 4, 1943, Jack lived a life defined by service, love, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Jack served his country during the Vietnam War with honor and courage. After returning home, he dedicated his life to his family, his passions, and his craft.

An avid outdoorsman, Jack found peace and purpose in nature and the outdoors. His love for the outdoors inspired his second calling as a writer—his words graced the pages of numerous outdoor magazines, where he shared stories, wisdom, and the kind of quiet insight that only comes from a life truly lived.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Taska Smith; his parents, Jasper and Atha Smith; his sister, Phyllis Smith; and his son, Jason Smith.

He leaves behind a legacy of love through his son Mark (Melanie) Smith; his grandchildren Hunter (Ashlee) Smith, Hayley Smith, Dalton Smith, and Addison Smith; and one great-grandchild, Jason Smith. His family meant the world to him, and he took great pride in watching them grow and thrive.

He was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a lover of sports. He accomplished so many amazing things in his life that we should all aspire to be as blessed as he was on so many levels.

Jack Smith lived a full life, rich with love, adventure, and purpose. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
