Obituary: Mr. Charles Alvin Lapish, 69, of Kannapolis died Friday, July 23, 2010 at CMC-NorthEast Medical Center, Concord. He had been in declining health but death was unexpected. He was born January 10, 1941 in Cabarrus County, son of the late Festus Paul and Lelia Maye Griffin Lapish. Prior to his retirement he worked as security manager for K Mart. Following retirement he worked for Charlotte Motor Speedway and for D.E.I. of Mooresville. He loved to play golf, NASCAR, and enjoyed collecting antiques of all kinds. He was of the Baptist Faith. A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1600 Plaza Avenue, Kannapolis, conducted by Rev. Steve Sexton. The family will receive friends at the church from 3:00-4:00 P.M.Tuesday prior to the memorial service. At other times they will be at the residence. Charles is survived by his wife: Joyce Phillips Lapish of the home, Sons: Danny Lamar Lapish and David Christian both of Kannapolis, two daughters:Kim (Darryl) Lipe of China Grove and Sonya (Craig) Poole of Mooresville.
