Obituary: Charles Glenn Pethel, 85, of Salisbury, NC died at his home on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 after two years of declining health and two months of being seriously ill. Charles was born on October 3, 1930 in Rowan Co., NC the son of the late Carl Glenn Pethel and the late Effie Estelle King Pethel. Charles was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Ch. He was a Korean War combat Veteran and enjoyed participating in many of the 7th Cavalry reunions through the years. Charles had worked for two companies in his lifetime including Cannon Mills as a supervisor and up until recently with Duke Power Co., at the McGuire Plant. A lot could be said about Charles but most of all, he was a wonderful husband to his wife Frankie. The service for Mr. Pethel will take place at 2:00 p.m., Monday, Nov. 9, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Stephen Johnson with burial at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 12:30-2:00 before the service. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Frances "Frankie" Rabon Pethel of the home; a sister, Jearaldean "Sis" Mills of Concord; and a number of nieces and nephews.
