Obituary: Charles Wilson Reece, Jr., age 85, died Friday, February 18, 2011 at the W. G. (Bill) Hefner Medical Center, Salisbury, NC after 2 ½ years of declining health. He was born October 22, 1925 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Charles Wilson Reece, Sr. and Mary Correll Reece. Charles was employed as a shop foreman having worked for several automobile dealerships in the area including the former Cardell Carter Pontiac-Buick, the former Bill Dove Motor Company, & lastly at Safety Chevrolet in Mooresville, NC for over 40 years until his retirement.He held his church member ship at Calvary Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC where he had served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, & other phases of church activities.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.During his military time he served in the combat engineers corps, received the Purple Heart, & spent most of his time in Germany, Switzerland, & Italy.His family fondly remembers him always having a love for working on cars.Charles was also thought by family as a very special loving husband, father, grandfather, & great-grandfather. The funeral service will be 4:00 P.M. Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Max Smith.Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC with military honors.The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:30 P.M. Sunday at Whitley's Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty Hampton Reece; a daughter, Charlene R. Foster & husband, David of China Grove, NC; a son, Kenneth R. Reece & wife, Sabra of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Lisa F. Molenda of Ft. Myers, FL, David R. Foster, II & wife, Rhonda of Concord, NC, Terry K. Miller, Jr., Concord, NC, Michael K. Reece & wife, GerriAnn of Concord, NC; great-grandchildren, Brittany Molenda, Megan McClamrock, Bailey Molenda, Taylor Miller, Michael Molenda, Elijah Foster, and Caleb Foster; two brothers, Conrad Reece of Kannapolis, NC and James (Jimmy) Reece of China Grove, NC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hospice Fund, W.G. (Bill) Hefner V.A. Medical Center, 1601 Brenner Avenue, Salisbury, NC 28144.
Visitation: 1:30-3:30 P.M., Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home.

Service: 4 P.M., Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Ch. in Kannapolis.

Interment: Carolina Mem. Park
