Obituary: Charles Steven (Steve) Sechler, 62, of 5520 Cavin Lane, Kannapolis died Friday Oct. 23, 2009 at CMC NorthEast. He was born December 13, 1946 in Cabarrus County, the son of Charles Herman "Buddy" Sechler and Margaret Helen Tanner Sechler of China Grove. He retired due to disability from Freightliner, Inc. He was a veteran of the US Army. In his earlier years he enjoyed drag racing. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Chris Pethel. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Monday at Whitley's. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife June Smith Sechler, 4 children: Charles Steven Sechler Jr. of Landis, James Steven Sechler of Kannapolis, Melissa Ann Sechler of Kannapolis, and Ashley Renee Sechler of Kannapolis, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a sister Tonya Sossoman of China Grove.
