Charles David Sides, Sr.

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- C. D. Sides, Sr., died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after a period of declining health. He was born June 7, 1931 in Rowan County, NC, the son of the late Charlie McRae Sides and Mary Blume Sides. C.D. was owner & operator of C.D. Sides Paint & Body Shop, Kannapolis, for 50 years until his retirement in 2000. A veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, he was awarded the Korean Service Medal, a Bronze Service Star, a Combat Infantry Badge, and the United Nations Service Medal. The funeral service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Laura Beam Sides; a son, Charles D. (Charlie) Sides, Jr. & wife, Dr. Addie B. Sides of Lexington, SC; four grandchildren, David, Katherine, Laurel, and Harrison Sides; and one sister-in-law, Helen Sides of Landis, NC.
