Obituary: Starr, Charles EmeryKannapolis, NC- Charles Emery Starr, age 56 , died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at his home.He was born October 6, 1954 in Rowan County, NC, the son of Dr. C. Marion Starr and June Hollar Starr. He was a 1972 graduate of A.L. Brown High School, Kannapolis, and attended East Carolina University.Charles was employed with the former Pillowtex Corp., Kannapolis, NC Plt.# 1 Towel Sewing Dept. for 31 years until the mill's closing. His sons fondly remember his love of coaching Dixie Youth baseball as they were growing up. His first love was music. He loved playing his saxophone and the piano in earlier years. He had a sense a humor that really made you smile. His wife remembers that there wasn't a person that he met that didn't like him. His favorite place in the world was Topsail Island, NC where he enjoyed hunting for sharks teeth. The memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Paul Townsend. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Jan Sechler Starr; two sons, Jacob Charles Starr of Charlotte, NC and Matthew Garrett Starr of Kannapolis, NC; two sisters, Carol Starr Townsend & husband, Paul of Pennsylvania and Mary Starr Dudde & husband, Daniel of Alexander, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
