Obituary: Stirewalt, Charles Alexander Kannapolis, NC- Charles Alexander Stirewalt, age 80, died Monday, September 14, 2009 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after 6 months of declining health due to Myasthenia Gravis, an auto-immune disorder. He was born February 22, 1929 in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Charlie J. A. Stirewalt and Mary Louise Murph Stirewalt. He was a 1947 graduate of J.W. Cannon High School. In earlier years he worked for Pilot Freight Carriers. Later, he was employed with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for 34 years. During that time he also enjoyed tilling the land of his ancestors on his farm in Rowan County. He enjoyed being a part of the Kannoneers Square Dance Club, volunteering with the Bostian Heights Fire Department, CMC-NorthEast, National Citizen Band Radio Association, and Habitat For Humanity. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Jacqueline Ford Stirewalt; and a sister, Mable Louise Stirewalt Williams. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Center Grove Lutheran Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Lloyd Ginn, Rev. Richard Rhoades, and Rev. Diane Wales. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Concord, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Melba Ketner Eddleman Stirewalt; four children, Marsha Stirewalt Morrison & husband, David of Concord, NC, Darlene Diann Stirewalt of Kannapolis, NC, Kimberly Stirewalt Belk & husband, Larry of Thomasville, NC, and John Manuel Stirewalt & wife, Loretta of Rockwell, NC; and his beloved three stepchildren, Ed Eddleman and family of Charlotte, NC, Dr. Keith Eddleman, M.D. and family of New York, NY; and Anne Eddleman Simpkins of Rockwell, NC Three grandchildren, Wendy Morrison Love, Mendy Morrison Mullis, and Demitri Erick Stirewalt. Three great-grandchildren, Brandon Lee Love, Angelina Marie Mullis, Anthony James Mullis; three nieces & nephews; and a brother, F. Moses Stirewalt & wife, F. Marilene of Concord, NC.
