Charles "Tom" Matthews

Obituary: Charles "Tom" Matthews, 78, of Kannapolis died unexpectedly at his home on March 10, 2017. Memorial Services for Tom will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 19th, at Church of God of Prophecy, 145 Westover Avenue Kannapolis, N.C. 28081, with J.B. Hawkins of Cleveland, NC presiding. Tom was born July 25, 1938 in Cabarrus Co., the son of the late Frank O. and Grace McKinley Matthews. He was a life-long area resident and graduated from AL Brown High School class of 1956. Tom worked at Cannon Mills for 48 years until the mill closed down. He worked part time at Advance Auto in Kannapolis as parts driver for several years. Tom loved Karaoke, NASCAR Racing, and loved traveling with his wife and grandson. He loved his Chihuahua Dog T.J. In addition to his parents, Tom was proceeded in death by three sisters; Martha Matthews Conklin, Elizabeth Goodnight Richmond, and Billie Goodnight Galliher. Tom is survived by Wife, Georgia Matthews and Grandson, Coltrane Campbell and he is survived by 1 sister, Nancye Matthews Brodie (Bob) of Anchorage, Alaska In Lieu of flowers the family just would like to ask for prayers to get through this time of loss.
