Charles Alexander Varnadore Jr.

Charles Alexander Varnadore Jr., 86, of Kannapolis, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021.

Charles was born on November 21, 1934 in Chester County, SC to the late Charles Alexander Varnadore Sr. and Ouida Gaines Drennan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Varnadore and two sisters, Shirley Hickman and Mary Varnadore.

Charles was a graduate of Southmont High School and attended Ashmore Business College. For many years, he was the owner/operator of the Furniture Den located on South Main in Lexington. He also worked for several years as a car salesman.

He loved sports, especially local high school basketball and football and was a loyal supporter of Central Davidson High School for many years. He loved to make music and was an accomplished self-taught harmonica player. He performed for audiences all across the Piedmont North Carolina and had many devoted fans. He dearly loved his family and was an especially caring husband.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 31 years, Kay Varnadore; son, Eric (Dana) Varnadore; grandsons, Jacob Varnadore, Josh Varnadore, and Justin Varnadore; step-daughters, Sherrie (Rick) Reed, Lisa (Jim) Wallace, Emily (Jason ) Overcash; brothers, Robert “Bob” Varnadore and Joe (Sherry) Varnadore; sister, Ina Parsons, and a beloved pet Chihuahua, Stella.

A memorial service will be held and announced at a later date.
