Obituary: Charles Ray White, 72, passed away Sunday evening, April 9, 2017 at CHS-Northeast Medical Center, following a period of declining health. Born April 25, 1944 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Charlie O'Neil White and Mabel Marie Rogers White. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mandy Swain. Charles was a 1962 graduate of South Rowan High, which was Souths first graduating class. He had honorably served his country with the US Navy. Over the years, Mr. White had been employed with Loomis-Fargo, Harris-Teeter and most recently was owner of Westside Food Mart in Enochsville. Charles was a big man with a bigger heart who had a wonderful sense of humor. A loving, loyal and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Family members include his wife of 48 years, Evelyn White; his son Richard Swain (Sue); daughters Robbin Worobel (John), Sherry Walter and Sabrina Campbell (Jim); his brother Neil White (Monique), sister Shirley Bryant; his grandchildren Megan Bailey, Kristin Furr, and Anthony and Timothy Walter; and 6 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 12th from 4:00-5:00 pm at Unity United Methodist Church. Memorial services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. White will begin at 5:00 pm at the church, conducted by Pastors Tim Whittington and Harry Andrews.
