Obituary: Salisbury-Charles Bruce Williams, Sr. 63, passed away Sunday evening, August 7, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury, following a period of declining health. Born October 29, 1952 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Jack Elbert and Shirley Ann Willis Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy C. Williams. Mr. Williams had retired from Lowes Motor Speedway, where he worked in security and had earlier worked for Cannon Mills. He had honorably and proudly served his country in the US Army. Charles loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed the WWE, guns and gun instruction. Family members include his fiancée Kathy Collins; his son Charles "Bruce" Williams, Jr (Dawn) of Kannapolis; daughter Kellie Williams Thompson (William Wallace) of Thomasville; his brothers Mike Williams (Sibylle) of Kannapolis, Dale Williams (Cheryl) of China Grove, Marshall Williams of Elkin and Robert Ware; his grandchildren Brittany Williams (Josh), Charles M.L. Williams, Byerly and Albert Wallace and 5 nephews. A special friend, Bonnie Duncan and his lifelong friend Frank Overcash also survive him. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 11th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 pm Friday at Eva Drive Baptist Church in Concord. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, with military graveside rites conducted by the Rowan County Veterans and NC National Honor Guards.
