CONCORD – Charles “Chuck” Ray Harrington, Sr. (83), passed away peacefully on Friday August 5, 2022.  He was born on December 7, 1938 in Kannapolis, North Carolina.  Charles was the son of John Fletcher Harrington and Bertha Marie Morgan.  Charles grew up in North Carolina and lived here until he was 19 when he moved to California.  Charles lived and worked in the San Diego and Burbank areas of California until 2000 when he retired and returned to North Carolina.

Charles is proceeded in death by his parents and his wife of 53 years, Judith Ann Primeau Harrington.  Together they had 2 sons David Michael Harrington and Charles Ray Harrington Jr.  Charles is also proceeded in death by his brothers John Hoyett Harrington, Kenneth Daniel Harrington and sister Lillie Mae Gainey.

Charles is survived by his sons David Michael Harrington (and wife Battina) of Kannapolis and Charles Ray Harrington Jr. (and wife Marjorie) of Enochville and 4 grandchildren: Mark Gray and (and wife Monica) of Alabama, Wendy Patterson (and husband Travis) of Kannapolis, Samantha Harrington of St Petersburg, Florida and Michael Harrington of Kannapolis.  Charles is also survived by his wife, Teresa Ann Harrington of Concord and by 2 siblings: William “Samp” Harrington of Landis, and Margaret Cline of Concord.   Charles is also survived 2 great grandchildren, Beckham and Carson Gray of Alabama.  And by numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was a Navy veteran and was a member of Company 59-396 stationed in San Diego, California.

Charles’ career included working in many restaurants, owning his own restaurant “The Coffee Cup” in Burbank, CA, and catering food services for several movie studios.  Charles changed careers in 1977 to work in the transportation departments of Lorimar Television Studio and later Sony and Warner Brother’s studios.  He retired after 24 years working in the television and movie studio industry.  His studio career spanned from working on the sets of “Knox Landing”, “Dallas”, “Happy Days” and many more shows and movies.  When he retired he was working on the set of “Everybody Loves Raymond” television show.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation be given to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital Foundation.  Whitley’s Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
