Charlie Ray Hill

Obituary: On Saturday, October 13, 2018, Charlie Ray Hill of China Grove passed on to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at age 84 following a period of declining health. Charlie was born November 10, 1933 in Rowan County, NC a son of the late Philip Adam Hill and the late Hilder Stirewalt Hill. Charlie was educated in the Rowan County Schools. He was a self-employed painter and carpenter. He loved the outdoors, gardening and serving the Lord. He was a charter member of China Grove Church of God. Family members left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 45 years; Louise Overcash Hill, two daughters; Barbara H. Wilson and husband Martie, and Wanda H. Wise and husband Ricky, all of China Grove, step-daughter, Lori Basinger Woods and husband John of China Grove, step-son, Richard C. "Rick" Basinger of China Grove, sister, Bettie H. Eller and husband Charles of Salisbury. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Wendi Heglar, Chris Wilson, Sandy Howell, Amanda Burleson, and Jonathan Woods,: eight great grandchildren; Luke Heglar, Deegan Wilson, Kila Heglar, Bryce Burleson, Josh Burleson, Sadie Burleson, Mariah Howell, and Madison Howell. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Joel Ervin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
