Charmaine (Hageman) Casey

Charmaine Casey, 69, formerly of Smiths Station, AL passed away on January 5, 2024, in Lawrenceville GA after a long, heroically fought illness.

Charmaine was born May 31, 1954, in England, a daughter of the late Gilbert and Enid Hageman. One of 5 siblings, she spent her early years living abroad, ultimately settling down outside of Winston – Salem, NC where she raised two kids with her then husband, Smitty. She worked as a respiratory therapist at Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital for many years before retiring. She met her love, Ernest Casey, and moved to Germany where they married and traveled for many years before moving back to the states to Smiths Station, Alabama. Charmaine and Casey cultivated the most beautiful garden, koi pond, and life. Often called Snow White, Charmaine had a special bond with animals. She spoiled her Irish wolfhounds, old English sheepdogs, and the many forest animals that she befriended.

In addition to her parents, Charmaine was preceded in death her husband, Ernest F. Casey. Charmaine is survived by her daughter, Jamie Marshall and her spouse Ashley Smith and their son Maddox; her son, Daniel Marshall, and his spouse Jessica and their two girls, Emma and Madeline; Stepdaughter Nicole Casey O’Rourke and her children, Denzel and Serenity; four siblings and a host of nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service to celebrate Charmaine's life will be held Monday, January 15th, at the National Cemetery Annex in Salisbury, NC.
